The Bhakti Nagar police have arrested Samrat Das, the accused in the theft at the ISKCON temple on April 29. The incident occurred when the thief broke into the temple premises and stole cash from three donation boxes. CCTV footage from the temple clearly captured the theft, which provided crucial evidence for the investigation. The theft came to light on April 30, when the temple management filed a complaint with the police.
After receiving the complaint, the Bhakti Nagar police initiated a prompt investigation. Following intense efforts, the police arrested Samrat Das late Thursday night. During the arrest, the police recovered Rs 56,640 in cash from the accused, which was identified as the stolen amount. The arrest was made after confirming the details from the CCTV footage and the investigation.
The police are now focusing on identifying whether any other individuals were involved in the crime. Samrat Das is set to be taken into remand for further questioning to aid in the ongoing investigation. The police continue to probe the case to gather more information and ensure that all parties involved are brought to justice.
